TripAdvisor has just announced that London is Europe’s number one destination and winner of the world’s best in its Traveller’s Choice Awards. Based on the quality of hotels, restaurants and entertainment, London has ranked even higher than Paris, Madrid or Rome! Now officially number 1 in the world, Tripadvisor called it a sprawling city at the centre of everything: art, history and culture. But what sets it apart from other major hubs is the quality of its neighbourhoods, each with its own distinctive vibe.

From Shoreditch’s progressive, inclusive atmosphere, to Camden’s punky vibe and the transcendent atmosphere that defines the Portobello Road, London is never the same city two days in a row. Instead, it’s characterised by Michelin-starred restaurants, the best traditional pubs anywhere on the planet and cafe culture that easily rivals Paris! With royal and historic sites, London represents the very best in culture, consistently providing something for everyone. In short, the capital remains a leading global community, diverse, exciting and always inclusive.

The capital’s attractions continue to draw millions of visitors each year, including the National Gallery, the British Museum, the London Dungeons and the 02 Arena. There’s also shows at the Barbican, motorcycle extravaganzas at London ExCel, ice skating at Canary Wharf and the Orchids Festival at Kew Gardens. According to Tripadvisor reviewers, ‘London is many worlds in one’, making it even more popular than Barcelona or Paris, which placed second and third in the rankings. Also included in the global top five is Hanoi in Vietnam (fourth) and Rome (fifth) and America’s premier destination remains New York, which remains as popular as ever.

Research from TripAdvisor shows that people are taking more and more holidays, travelling to every part of the globe, a trend that’s set to continue into 2024. The data reveals that over half of all Brits are planning one or two trips abroad over the next twelve months. However, London remains the leading global hub, a dynamic city that continues to dictate the culture. Over the course of this year, the capital will continue to do what it does best: providing the very best in theatre, concerts, food and exhibitions. As ever, an essential European destination that’s inclusive, definitive and always a great time. And well worthy of TripAdvisor’s ranking as number one in the world!
