Dec.

As the new year approaches, it’s always worth planning ahead about how best to celebrate. Of course, for anyone lucky enough to be in London that night there’s little doubt you’re spoilt for choice. In any season, the capital is one of those places where, no matter what kind of evening you’re in the mood for, there’s something to cater for every taste.

However, this is New Year’s Eve, and that means a veritable bounty of firework displays, parties and shows, with a host of different events taking place all across the city. As we prepare to usher in 2023, here’s our list of just some of what’s on offer so as to ensure your New Year is one to remember!

1) New Year’s Eve Fireworks
After something of a hiatus, London’s world-famous end-of-year extravaganza is back and it promises to be better than ever. The fireworks are set to light up a huge stretch of the Thames, running all the way from Victoria Embankment to Westminster Bridge, and for those who haven’t already had the pleasure, it’s a truly spectacular sight. This year, 100,000 people are expected to gather near the London Eye for an amazing show that’s guaranteed to see out 2022 in style.

2) Southbank’s New Year’s Eve Spectacular

Back for its 10th year, the New Year’s Eve party at the Southbank Centre has become the stuff of legend. Set over five floors in the Royal Festival Hall, this iconic building comes alive, full of bars, clubs and themed restaurants, all part of an evening that’s really one for the ages. With music covering every decade since the 1920s, this has well and truly earned its reputation as one of the hottest tickets in town. It also provides the perfect view of the fireworks as Big Ben strikes midnight. Simply dazzling!

3) River Cruise on the Thames
Another glorious way to take in the fireworks is from the deck of a New Year’s riverboat cruise. There’s no shortage to choose from and they all offer champagne, fine cuisine and live music as you make your way past some of London’s most iconic landmarks. For us, Thames Luxury Charters is a hugely reliable option. They’ve been in business for over thirty years, and have a fleet of outstanding, high-end vessels ready and waiting. Over the course of those three decades, they’ve catered for everyone from Hollywood movie stars to British royalty, meaning you can relax, enjoy and really savour an exemplary, five-star experience.

4) New Year’s Day Parade
For those still full of energy, the London New Year’s Day Parade makes its way through the West End on January 1st, featuring over 10,000 performers from every corner of the globe and a range of extravagant, wonderfully designed floats. A perfect family day out, expect to enjoy incredible live music, acrobatics and dancing, huge inflatables and even K-Pop, all part of a day-long event that only gets more popular with each passing year. High-energy and a lot of fun, this is a great way to kickstart your 2023.

As you can see, if you’re in London over New Year there are all kinds of ways to celebrate. That’s because in a city as diverse, dynamic and international as this, there’s really something for everyone, which is a big part of what makes it such an amazing place to call home.

Meanwhile, one thing’s for certain, Londoners certainly know how to party, and this New Year’s Eve looks set to be one for the history books. Now bring on 2023!
